Ladders to Heaven was founded in 2014 by Angela Gabrielle Tajanlangit Mercado, aka “Abby”. She has always been close to her faith ever since she was little. Back in her grade school days, she would drop by their school chapel daily before going to class. She has then been conscious of her fondness towards the Catholic faith. She believes that it all started at home. She comes from a religious family, with both (mother’s and father’s) sides being devout Catholics and Marian devotees, that fondness only grew stronger as she started hearing mass everyday, and has become more passionate about propagating the faith.

The propagation of the use of the Holy Rosary is not new to Abby’s family. Her late Grandfather used to do the same and is now a candidate for canonization by the Catholic church. His name was “Tay” Amador Tajanlangit Sr. His apostolic work began in the early 60’s when he would distribute rosaries made out of dried seeds, prayercards, pamphlets about Mary and miraculous medals, and small radios to give to the people living in places that were not easy to reach in the province. He would then ask them to turn on their radios at 4am to join him as he initiates praying the rosary. He motivated them with such zeal that really motivated them to pray the Holy Rosary. Several miracles were also recorded during his apostolate.

Where there are souls to save, people to teach, God and the Blessed mother to be known, Tay Amador thrives to go forth and reach the unreachable. His call to sainthood has greatly inspired Abby to go on and continue the mission he left here on earth. She was only more motivated to respond to her call to propagate the Holy Rosary, and her Catholic faith all together. She learned how to make chained rosary items from her mother who used to make rosaries as well. She only made some for personal use and to give friends and family, until she posted photos of her work online and many asked if she was selling as they wanted them as giveaways in Weddings, Birthdays, and Baptisms.

The name “Ladders to Heaven” was inspired by the story of the vision of St. Francis de Sales, where he had a vision of two ladders to heaven. The first one was quite long, steep, and dangerous and led heaven through Jesus. The second ladder was much shorter, easier to climb, less steep and led through Mary. Jesus told St. Francis de Sales, “Tell your people to come to me by this ladder, through my Mother.”

Abby continuously donates part of the profit from Ladders to Heaven to charities, and patients in dire need of help in Charity wards. She also donates rosaries, and other religious items to parishes close to her home during the month of the Holy Rosary and other Religious events.
